Postcards "Tag der Briefmarke"

The 'Tag der Briefmarke', an idea by Hans von Rudolphi (1884-1944), was based on the concept to bring collectors of stamps and philalists together. It was encouraged by the nazi regime who saw another possibility for propaganda. The actual date for the gathering was set on every sunday after the 7th of January. That specific date was the day of birth of Heinrich von Stephan (1831-1897) the founder of the German postal service.  The first 'day of the stamps' was held in 1936. Postcards could be issued by anyone who was affiliated to the 'Tag der Briefmarke'. Only the postcards of Germany are showed here and not there annexed territories. The backside of the card is only showed if there is some significance to it.

It was decided that for 1944 no futher exhibitions or gathering of collectors would be organised. The Tag der Briefmarke became a symbole now without futher practice. Since 1941 Germany had issued a special stamp concerning the Tag der Briefmarke. For 1944 the last stamp was designed and circulated at October 1944. There was no longer a special FDC postmark.
